Yummy Sushi
I took this photo for a food photography project. We had to choose recipe, make it, and photograph the results. I chose sushi because I love the different colors and textures in sushi. I like this picture because you can tell the rice is sticky and see the different textures of crab salad and salmon caviar. The colors are beautiful and it tasted very good
Retreat Beach
I took this photo while on my retreat with the Rogers softball team in Long Branch, Washington! I was focusing on taking depth of field photos for a photo assignment and this was my favorite photo I took. First of all, I love taking photos at any beach, photos of the water and the sand, and in this case, the wall of beach wood is very beautiful to me. I made this particular photo black and white to give it more of a calm, peaceful feeling. I also burned the edges the tiniest bit to lead into the photo and really draw focus to the main subject. I hope you enjoy this photo as much as I do!
Night Lights
I took this picture for a night photography assignment that was given to us in class. Out of all the pictures I snapped for this assignment, this by far my favorite of them all. I really like the use of lines in this photo. I also, liked the colors I was able to capture from the lights on the car. On the other hand, I would have liked for this picture to be a little less boring, but overall this was a great picture that I am very proud of.
Budding Blooms
This was a branch in my front yard that was barely still attached to our tree. It was covered in moss and the blooms were just starting to bud. This was a simple Depth of Field assignment and I love how it turned out. I liked the macro feel to the photo and I only changed levels and cropped it.

Focus
This photo was for a Depth of Field assignment. We had to duplicate a photo from the internet, and I picked this one because I really like it. This picture was kind of hard to take because I had to get in real close, and just focus on one word, which was the word “focus”. I would have liked the picture better and would have gotten even closer if I had a macro lens, which I didn’t at the time.

What’s Cooking, Good Looking???
Kayla Westover
This was a picture I took for our food photography assignment. I really like how the other cookies look in the background. I also like the color of the overall picture. It was a lot of fun to take pictures of it. The cookies were really good too. I think that the main cookie should be a little more in focus though.
I See You
Spring Time

I took this picture for the small depth of field project. My friend picked a daffodil for me earlier that day and I saved it to take pictures of it. I really like how my pictures turned out. For this photo, I just enhanced the color a little bit and then I did some color selection on the picture and made the background black and white and kept the color of the flower the same.

Description: I took this picture for our small depth of field assignment. It was challenging to get the shot from this angle because there was a big flat bush in the way of where I needed to stand so I had to stand on top of it and I kept losing my balance, but it was really fun because I love small depth of field and macro photography. I used my macro lens and my aperture was 4.0.

This photo I took for one of the scholarships I did. This was not the photo I ended up choosing as my final, but I loved the detail in the rain drops. I took it outside, so I got natural light. I do wish the inside of the flower would have been a little less blurry. I used a macro attachment lens, it allowed me to get close to the subject without loosing detail.

San Francisco Reflection
This photo was taken mid-February in San Francisco. We were right in the middle of the city, and skyscrapers towered all around us. I was wearing my mirror aviators, and wanted to get a reflection picture with the buildings in it. I had been using my friend Alondra as my model all day long, and she was very cooperative. I imagined getting as much of the huge buildings as possible along with some of the people on the street into the reflection. In editing the picture, I really didn’t do much to it besides lower the saturation a little bit. Overall, I’m happy with how the photo turned out.

I really enjoyed taking this picture. Im not usually a fan of taking portrait photo’s but this was a joy. I like to use the candid aspect. I chose a brick background, and was a little skeptical about It at first, but in the end it made for a great contrast in my opinion. After all was said and done, I used bridge to set in some good contrast.

I was trying out a new technique I learned about called ‘free lensing’. I was just looking around and found this fern and decided it would be nice to try and take a picture of while free lensing. I also changed the photo to black and white so that I could get more practice in converting from color to grayscale. Overall I think I did a good job with this technique and I really like the outcome. My settings were 1/200, f/0, and an ISO of 100.

Brielle.
This assignment was great because it allowed me to practice working on portrait photos. This was our senior collage assignment, and I used one of my good friends, Brielle, as a subject. She was great. This fun assignment took us to downtown Puyallup. I love this picture because you can see her reflection in the windows. With a little bit of Photoshop, the final outcome turned out great.

I took this photo in my dining room for a food photography assignment. I made some homemade bagels with my mommy and put poptarts and fruit loops on them. I ate them afterwards because I didn’t wanna throw it away because I could have just given it to the kids in Africa. This photo has been edited in camera raw and took me about 3 shots to get the focus right.

This picture was used for an assignment in photography. We were told to take senior pictures for a senior collage. This was my favorite picture out of the four I used for my collage. I really liked how I used the rule of thirds by putting my subject on the right side of the photo. I also like the color contrast in this picture, and the depth of field by making the subject in focus and the background out of focus.

A Leap of Faith
I took this picture at about 7 in the morning. My friends and I drove out to Owens Beach to take pictures for our silhouette assignment. I love the sky in this picture. It is so colorful and interesting. It’s also fun to look at how she is jumping, and the silhouette of the rock and the logs. I didn’t even have to Photoshop this picture!
Patricia Pan
By Kourtney Scudder
I took this photo when my friends and I went to Owens beach for our photography assignment. That was the best day. This picture is of my friend Tara. She looks like Peter Pan…in the picture. This was taken right before she fell on her booty. I Photoshoped the picture to make it brighter, and to define her figure more. The sky was naturally those colors at 5 Am.
Top of the World

I took this picture on a beach in California over the President’s day weekend. This picture is one of many silhouette pictures that I took during this trip. I like this one because of the way the sun looks contrasting with the sky. I thought this turned out being a thoughtful looking silhouette with the way my friend Valerie is looking out over the landscape. I had a lot of fun taking this picture because we went on a hike up these hills until we made it to the top and I was able to get this picture.
Into the Woods
This is a picture of my brother and his girlfriend, with my dog Lucy. We all went out into the woods and took a walk. The dog found this pathway and it was completely secluded and covered by trees and twigs. It was a pretty desolate looking pathway which is why I included the dying twig as the main subject of the picture. I got my brother and his girl to hold hands and walk ahead with the dog. I liked the overall feel of this picture. I only used levels to bring about the better coloring to the picture.
Adriana Cranston
Taken by: Oli Toma
I took this photo for an assignment “Senior Collage” at Bradley Lake of my friend Adriana. We tried many different posses but the up-close pose turned out best. I like the contrast and brightness of the flower to give this photo extra pop. Her smile is so warm and welcoming as well. This assignment was fun since I got to take them of my best friend! It was fun picking out the scenery and getting her props set up. My shutter speed was at 1/80 and my aperture was 5.6.
Postal Service
I took this photo of the Puyallup Post Office down town. I like how old the building is and how I emphasized it by color tinting the photo with sepia tone. I also used a little bit of the burn tool to add to the photo. I also like that there’s a darker feel to this photo. Overall this is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken
Sunset
I was driving down the road going home, and saw the sun setting and had to get a picture of it. When I was talking the picture I use the HDR method. I like how the sun is coming out through the clouds. I really like how this picture turned out. I wouldn’t change anything about it.
Endless Love
I took this photo sitting at my house one day. My boyfriend drew a heart on my hand with a pen that day and I wanted to take a picture of it. I love the meaning of this ring and putting it with the heart seemed like a good idea. I took a few regular photos also, but I thought I would try some in HDR also. I applied HDR to this photo then used the burn tool around the edges of the photo. I like the bronze look on my hand.
Somewhere beyond the sea
Michaela Mittelstadt
Description: This assignment was probably my favorite one so far this year. Tara, Kourntey and I went to Owens Beach down at Point Defiance. We got up really early to go, and got to the beach around 6:00 am to catch the light of the sunrise. All of our pictures turned out really good, with bright and perfect lighting. My aperture was 1/125 and my aperture was 6.3.
Senior Year
I took this photo when we were assigned Senior Collage. This is one of my favorite pictures from the whole set. I like how the colors work together and make the photo pop. I am happy with this picture because I haven’t taken a lot of pictures with people in them, I usually take landscape photos. I am happy with the result of the picture. I think I would play more with the lighting and figure out what looks best. It was a good experience and it was fun to work with the different lighting and backgrounds.
Silhouette Kitten
Kathleen Davis
This is a picture I took for our silhouette project. It is a picture of my kitten sitting in front of the tv. I really liked how this photo turned out. You can see the detail of his face and nose and also the details of all his fur. I also liked the contrast of the bright white television and the the silhouette of the kitten.
Cherry Blossoms
By: Estefania Zavala
Recently, I set out with the intent to shoot pictures that would become black and white images. I thought it would be interesting to see how a macro image of a blossom tree would come out in black and white and was pleasantly surprised. I think that since pictures of flowers are usually shot in color, I did not expect to like this image as much as I do. I also love macro photography so the incorporation of the two was something I was happy with. This was taken in Orting with a Nikon D40,18-55mm lens with a Canon 52 mm Close Up lens attachment.
