City Sidewalks

I took this photo in Seattle on our Photo 2 field trip. I had an image somewhat like this in my head that I had been trying to create, with the leading effect that it has. I liked that the sidewalk seems so quiet and empty, and the leading effect makes it seem like it goes on forever. On Photoshop I lowered the saturation almost entirely and used gradient around the edges of the top and bottom of the frame.

Marry Me?

This is a photo of two candied apples in a bakery in Seattle. The apples were on display behind glass so it was tricky to not get a reflection in the picture. I love this picture because I think the tux and wedding dress on the apples was a brilliant idea and it was cool to be able to photograph something so unique. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out and how clear the tux apple is. I used Photoshop to add a black border as a frame to bring out the picture and to crop it a little.

Fish Outta Water

I took this in Pike Place Market, on our Seattle fieldtrip. I like this photo because it is sort of chaotic but still not too busy. I like the look of the dark hallways and the mingled people going about there day and shopping. It is really hard to take any picture in pike place because of the dark neon lighting, so I was please with the results. I brightened this photo up in Photoshop, used levels and cropped it a little but other than that there was nothing else I did.

Time Stops

I recently went on a field trip to Seattle with my photography class and got several good pictures, but this one was my favorite. It was my favorite because my goal was to get a panning shot while I was there, and I did it! Well at least to the best of my abilities. Not only do I like that I was able to get a panning picture, but I like the subject I was using. I would have liked though, if the subject was more in focus.

Purple Haze

I took this picture on our class’s field trip to Seattle. We were walking around in Pike Place by a flower shop and this flower really stood out to me because it is my favorite color. I tried to make sure that just the flower was in focus. I brightened up the colors a little bit so it would stand out more and also darkened up the blacks.

Never Ending

I took this photo for the December theme assignment. I went to the downtown Puyallup train tracks. It wasn’t a challenging picture to take, except for when the train came. I got down to a little bit above ground level to take it. My shutter speed was 1/400 and my aperture was 4.5.

Yellow Chairs

I took this photo on our class trip to Seattle in early December. I was just walking down this little alleyway that was full of little restaurants and food stands and I was just snapping pictures of everything. This photo I liked the most because of the lighting, with the sun shining on the tables and the rest kind of hiding in the shadows. I enhanced this lighting by emphasizing the shadows with the burn tool as well as using curves.

This photo was taken in my backyard; my shutter speed was 1/400. I really admire the sunset in the trees and the brightness of the flag, and the way it’s waving in the wind. I did have to brighten it in Photoshop, but I am really happy with the results. (:

A Classic

We recently started venturing to HDR photos. We had an in class assignment that asked us to take a photo and make it HDR. I took a picture of a Coca-Cola can, and within the HDR process found it to be looking very interesting. The can in the end seemed to look more antique than I started. I look forward to better my skills in HDR.

More Than You Know

I took this picture on the Seattle field trip in December. Someone wrote on a pipe “I love you Ardent, more than you’ll ever know.” I thought this was cute, and interesting so I took a picture of it. I darkened it and added contrast to it to make the picture sharp.

Where the Wild Things Are

I took this picture for the sky theme. My mom told me the sky looked pretty that day and to go out and take pictures. So I had to stand on my kitchen chair on my porch and lift the camera up above my head and click. The pictures turned out very interesting. There was contrast and color already in them and all I did was a curves adjustment in photoshop to make the colors pop a little more. I like the picture because the trees are very dark and the colors in the sky are dark, mysterious and vivid.

I took this picture in Seattle at Pike Place Market on a field trip. I took this picture because I like how there is one open pomegranate in the middle of all the others. It shows the inside beauty of this fruit. In photoshop, I made the photo black and white then brought the saturation back a little bit. Then, I used the history brush to bring back the natural color of the open pom. To finish it, I used the burn tool and made the edges darker to make sure the one pomegranate was the center of interest.

Pike Place Market

In December our class went on a field trip to Seattle to take photos. While taking photos I decided to take a photo of the Pike Place Market sign because I always see cool pictures of it and thought that it would be neat to take especially since there is a bird at the top of the sign. I like the contrasting colors and richness of the photo. My shutter speed was set to 1/160 and my aperture was at 11.0. Seattle is a great place to take photos and I enjoyed my time there.

Colors of Winter

I was testing out a new lens and saw frost all over our plants outside and they looked really pretty. Since it looks like we won’t be getting much snow I wanted to take advantage of the frost and how it contrasts with the red berries on the plant. I added some more of a blue cast and took the reds from the background away to give a colder look. My settings were at 1/125, f/3.2, and an ISO of 100.

Accordion Man

I took this photo in early December in Seattle. I walked down town and around Pike’s Place Market and saw this man with his accordion. I thought it would make a cool photo because of the angle I had of him. I was able to catch part of his grin and captured the accordion from its best side. I used a filter to give the canvas look, also black and whiting the photo to give it more emotion.

A Walk in Seattle

Our class went on a trip to Seattle to take photos. This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. I like this photo because it has perspective and I like the lines. I like the black and white instead of color, it add something to it. I also like the lights because it reminds me of the holiday’s, but I could have made the lights brighter.

The Tower of Terror

We did an article review for an assignment, and we were able to choose what Photoshop technique we used. I took a picture of this hotel, and I changed the color a bit. Then I put a different picture of the sky in, and made it green. I think this looks as though there is a storm or Tsunami coming to the town of Seattle. I really enjoyed doing this, and I think the result was very good.

Rooftops

I took this picture while on our Seattle Field Trip. I decided to try and get a couple of good panoramics and this was one of them. The only thing I would have changed was to get the photo from a higher place since the top of the buildings are cut off. My iso. was set at 400 and shutter at 1/200.

Space Needle

I took this picture when my class went on a field trip to Seattle. I have only been on the Space Needle once, and wish I could have gone up in it when we were there. But instead I took lots of picture. I like the angle of the Space Needle and how it turned out. I don’t think there is anything different I would of wanted to do to this picture. And I love how it turned out. But I would think it would of turned out better if it was dark out and the lights on the Space Needle were on.
