Sweet Daydream

Taken By: Oli Toma
I took this photo for an extreme macro assignment. I went outside after it rained and took some photos of flowers with raindrops on it. I thought that it would look more detailed with the dew drops on it and it helped make the photo. In Photoshop I brightened up the petals to add more detail to see the raindrops. My camera settings were set to 1/125: Shutter Speed and my Aperture: 5.6.

Softball

Name: Haylie Watson
I took this photo for a commercial photography assignment. We had to take pictures that would represent a brand and make sure it was the same style of their real advertisements. I took this is my room and the ball was on top of the lid of a bucket while the bucket itself was behind the ball so it would pop more. In photoshop, all I did was brighten the color of the ball using lab color. Then I changed the hue a little to make it look more green.

Cougar Spirit

I took this photo for my commercial photography assignment. I had these boots that represent the Washington State University Cougars, and I felt it would be cool to do a theme around “Cougar Spirit”. I watered down my driveway to give the photo that Washington weather feel to it, also adding more to the photo with the reflections and the ripples of the water as I had my mom jump up and down. I made this photo black and white and after, I brought back the color in the boots to really emphasize Washington States colors. I also added the text to give the photo more of a push for advertisement of Washington State, as this was a commercial photography assignment.

Little Leaves

I took this photograph for our extreme macro project. I am really happy with how this picture turned out because it was my first time using the reverse lens technique. Doing the reverse lens technique is difficult because you have to really get close to the objects and find the spot where the object finally is in focus. I had a lot of fun taking pictures for this project because macro photography is my favorite type of photography. I used curves to enhance this photo and I increased the contrast. Overall I am really happy with this picture and how it turned out, especially the vibrant greens that I captured.

Cheetah Girl

I took this photo for our extreme macro assignment. It was so hard to get because I used to reverse lens method and it was very hard to stay still. This print looks like cheetah print but it is actually inside of a rhododendron.

Building With Books

I decided to go downtown one afternoon, and take pictures. This was my favorite one out of them all. I liked it so much that I used it for a scholarship contest. The thing I like the most about this picture is the color contrast and the use of curves. This is probably the best photo that I have edited this year. Overall, I love this picture and liked how it turned out.

Beware

I took this picture on my way to Pullman. My Dad backed up on the highway and did a U-Turn just so I could take pictures of the old barns. I like the old car and farm equipment. I also like the over growth of the trees and shrubs. I added a curves adjustment and added a channel mixer. Then I adjusted the color to sepia. My Aperture was 18 Shutter 1/80 and my ISO was 100.

Sea Shells

This photo was for a macro assignment we did. I used the sand and shells my mom got from Costa Rica. I tried getting even closer than this but it didn’t really work out. The one thing I would have done differently was probably more lighting, and make it more of a macro photo. But I still like the way it turned out.

Curly Q’s

I took this photo for our extreme Marco assignment. Using a reverse lens technique I was able to get a clear shot of the curly Q’s that are on a dandelion. Until this photo I was unaware of the fact that dandelions had curls. I really love this photo and the contrast of the colors.

The Real

Bailey Roberts
I bought this snake for 50 bucks about 3 weeks ago. Then I sold him for 40 because he was the most untamed snake I’ve ever handled. The owners did wrong by feeding him in his cage. I took this picture before he broke his jaw by trying to strike at me. Turbo will never change my opinion on snakes. I love them, because they know what’s real and what isn’t. They’re trained to love their owners and to love other snakes of the opposite sex to breed and make me LOTS OF MONEY!!!!!

Arachnophobia

By: Estefania Zavala
I’ve been trying out the reverse lens technique lately and although it is challenging, I love the results that you can get when it is done right. I followed a spider around for like twenty minutes trying to get a cool shot but the depth of field is really narrow when using this technique so it was hard because it kept moving. Although there isn’t a lot that’s in focus, I like this picture because you can see the fangs well.

Crack is Whack!!

I took this photo as part of my extreme macro assignment. This is not me cooking crack. I Don’t Do Drugs!! I am a clean cut kid, in fact this is just a borax bead being made in my friends Chemistry class. I like the overall look of this photo and only had to crop and use levels to make this look prime. I also used the burn tool around the edge for a darker edge. I was in actuality that close to the flame (kind of scary) so this was a real macro shot and not just cropped it close up.

Live By Faith..

I took this picture in California this past weekend. My sister got a new tattoo so I took a picture of it while we were at the beach. I like the coloring and how close up the photo is.

Coffee Anyone?

I took this photo for our commercial photography assignment. I wanted the photo to have a college theme going on. I didn’t show her face because I wanted the main focus to be on Starbucks and have your eye go directly to the cup. I am happy about the photo; the only problem that I see with the photo is the exposure. I felt with this assignment that I had a ton of ideas to work off of and that was really nice.

Beautiful Dreamer

Kayla Westover
I took this picture for our commercial photography assignment. I was advertizing New York Color Makeup. I had put on the brand’s makeup and I took pictures of my self. I thought this one turned out really well. The colors look good, and I like the lighting. It also has a good use of rule of thirds. I also thought that it was a pretty picture. I like how you can hardly see my eye, but you can see that I am looking away.

Princess of Puyallup

I took this photo with the intention of sending it to the Mel Korum scholarship contest. The photo is meant to represent the Puyallup Valley. My mom works with the company that sells all the daffodils to the Daffodil Parade, and the fields are gorgeous this time of year. I thought it would be perfect to use a tiara to represent the huge community event that is the Daffodil Coronation. There were three photos that I really ended up liking, and I had a hard time choosing which one to send to be judged. In the end, I chose this one because I liked the angle it was taken at, with the sky being visible as well as the blurred field in the background. I really like this photo and am so happy with how it turned out.

Ornate

I got this shot using the reverse lens technique since I don’t own a macro lens. I wanted to just get the anther part of the flower in focus and have the rest of the flower just act as a nice, plain backdrop. I also wanted to try and capture the pretty colors of the cherry blossoms.
I shot this at 1/250, f/0, with an ISO of 100.

Lost in Time

By: Estefania Zavala
We were assigned a depth of field assignment in which we had to look for a photo that used a shallow depth of field that we liked and replicate it. I found one of an antique watch with a vague outline of a person’s legs in the background. My photo I think captured the feel of the photo and overall look, but still had my own style to it. I used the dodge and burn tool a lot in this photo since the original photo was very dark.

Oli’s Chocolate Covered Strawberries

I took this photo for a food photography assignment and enjoyed taking photos that I would later enjoy eating! I took photos of Chocolate Covered Strawberries because the colors and texture of the strawberries. I also added the other fruit to the photo to enhance the color and make it look more professional. I enjoyed this assignment because I am happy with my overall result and the strawberries were delicious!

Ghosts in the Bathroom

I took this picture for our Night in Moment project. I had a lot of fun with my sister doing this project. We spent about an hour in our bathroom taking pictures. The way I did this was by turning off the lights and pointing a flashlight on my sister for 5 or more seconds each time she moved. I had a shutter speed of 30 seconds.

Best Friends

Tara Nolan

I took this picture for a replicating depth of field assignment. I had a lot of fun drawing myself and my friends, Michaela and Kourtney. I had to brighten up the crayons and make the overall picture a little warmer with the color filter.

Love and Life

Kourtney Scudder

I took this photo for my Depth of Field replication. I like the way love and life is connected. I turned the photo black and white and adjusted the color. I added a small Gaussian blur. The aperture was 2.1 ISO was 400. My shutter speed was 1/15. The angle seems kind of different to me.
